Die Ausstellung „Absurd Naturalism“ geht aus der Perspektive von vier Künstlerinnen der Staatlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart der Frage nach, wie wir unsere gegenwärtige Normalität definieren und wahrnehmen. Die Künstlerinnen Paula Laible, Xy June Li, Michelle Neumann und So Urbain erforschen verschiedene Aspekte unseres täglichen Lebens, die oft voller Illusionen und Widersprüche sind.
Die Ausstellung befasst sich mit der Rolle städtischer Vorschriften, unserem Konsumverhalten und unserer Verbindung zur Natur in der heutigen Zeit. Die Künstlerinnen spielen mit der Vorstellung, dass unsere täglichen Realitäten oft nicht so sind, wie sie zunächst erscheinen. Was können wir wirklich sehen und was wird durch unsere Annahmen geprägt? Was brauchen wir und was wollen wir? Was sind unsere (kollektiven) Werte, wenn man bedenkt, dass der äußere Schein oft trügt?

The exhibition „Absurd Naturalism“ addresses the question of how we define and perceive our current normality through the perspective of four artists from the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart. The artists Paula Laible, Xy June Li, Michelle Neumann and So Urbain explore various aspects of our daily lives that are often riddled with illusions and contradictions.
The exhibition delves into the role of urban regulations, our consumer behavior, and our connection to nature in today’s times. The artists play with the notion that our daily realities often aren’t as they first appear. What can we truly see and what is shaped by our assumptions? What do we need and what do we want? What are our (collective) values, considering that outwards appearances can often be deceiving?
